How ADHD Coaching is "Life-changing beyond expectations!"

I discovered coaching after meeting one in passing, who recommended I get a coach if I was interested in being one. After an introductory call with a woman who proposed me the total of 1 month's rent to help me 'do all the things I wanted to do', I was extremely put off, because I knew my brain needed the opposite: NOT doing all the things I want to do!

So I looked for a coach with ADHD, and found the ADHD Advocate. Speaking to someone who also had ADHD, instantly 'got' my overactive brain and had also worked in law was a relief in itself, just to know I wasn't alone. When she said the Government could fund 100% of coaching costs, I almost fell off my chair, but she was right.

2 years on and I've published ADHD: an A to Z, which led to me training companies like Microsoft, and quitting my job to become an ADHD Coach (trained by ADDCA). None of this would've been possible without having had coaching myself.

It's incredibly rewarding to now receive testimonials. Empowering a person with ADHD to stop beating themselves up and start working with their immense potential is like magic - they completely transform, just like I did.

What results did you get out of coaching?

I originally contacted Leanne as I was struggling to cope with various aspects of my ADHD, but particularly issues affecting my university studies and career.  Not only did Leanne help me enormously with establishing effective study timetables and providing me with helpful productivity tools such as the Pomodoro Timer, but she also really helped me work through my anxiety issues by practicing my interview technique.

Whilst this was my initial motivation behind starting coaching, we ended up exploring so many more interrelated issues that were negatively impacting my life far more than I realised, such as my Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, confidence issues, relationships and financial issues.  Leanne has helped me to start realising my own self-worth and, although I still have a long road ahead of me, she has given me such incredible advice and exercises that will help me throughout the rest of my ADHD journey.

Thanks to Leanne I am already becoming much more financially responsible, more comfortable discussing my ADHD and related issues with family, friends and employers, and less embarrassed to ask for help or support where I need it most.  Although I hate the fact that other people are struggling as well, I feel so relieved that I'm not the only one going through this and feel less like an outsider.  I previously hated using my ADHD as an excuse for not being able to achieve what I wanted to, but Leanne has shown me how to be kinder to myself and helped me to focus on the positive aspects of the condition.

How would you rate your overall experience with this coaching programme?

5 - Life-changing beyond my expectations!

Care to say more about why you chose that answer?

I thought coaching would help me to make surface-level adjustments to improve my life (which it did), but I wasn't expecting it to change my whole outlook on life.  I recently had a huge rejection which halted my career trajectory, and six months ago this would have absolutely destroyed me and put me in a very dark place.

Not only did Leanne stop this from happening, but she actually has completely flipped my mindset to see it as a positive thing.  I now have no idea what I want to do with my life, but for the first time I'm not scared -  I'm excited.  I actually feel incredibly emotional writing this, but I can't even begin to thank Leanne enough for what she's done for me.

I really appreciated how Leanne was so open about her own experiences and struggles as I knew she could relate to a lot of my own issues that we discussed, which meant that I valued her advice and help even more.  She has gone above and beyond throughout, from sending me incredible podcasts, articles, books and videos, to always being a supportive point of contact.  Not only is Leanne an incredible coach, but I now view her as a real friend.  I'm taking a short break to work on myself and some deep-rooted issues, but will absolutely be returning for sessions in the future, and hope that we will stay in contact in the meantime.

Where can it be improved?

I initially saw the price as being very high, but now know it's a bargain when I see how much I've grown and improved throughout the duration of the Programme.  I also struggled with completing worksheets and session prep/recap forms, but this is no fault of the Programme - it's my own (and my ADHD's!).  Also, Leanne was always completely understanding and never gave me a hard time for not completing things or taking any actions.

Do you have any more feedback on me as a coach generally?

I think I've covered most things above but in general I just think it's so clear that you don't view coaching as simply a job - you truly care so much about your clients and want to see them succeed.  You're such a positive influence on the people around you, and you're just phenomenal at what you do.  I know we spoke about this briefly in our last session, but you truly are an inspiration and I really hope that one day I can be like you.
